I am a doctoral student in Human-Computer Interaction at the School of Computer Science at Carnegie-Mellon University. My research focuses on understanding, designing, and evaluating sociable technology, in particular social robots.
I have a background in product development with degrees from Middle East Technical University, Istanbul Technical University, and Carnegie Mellon University. I worked at Arçelik in Istanbul as a product designer. I am a former Fulbright Fellow and a current Carnegie Mellon research fellow.
I am advised by Jodi Forlizzi and Jessica Hodgins. My past and present collaborators include Sara Kiesler, Susan Fussell, Christopher Atkeson, Scott Hudson, Takeo Kanade, Illah Nourbakhsh, Andreas Krause, and Carlos Guestrin. I am a part of the Project on People and Robots, Humanoids Group, and the Social Robots Group at Carnegie Mellon.
I am a native of Turkey. I practice Seido Karate at the Pittsburgh Seido Karate Club.
